Coaching logo

The team of seven enterprise coaches are now established across the Cheshire Warrington sub-region. They are employed by local community based organisations to raise awareness and provide support for local enterprise activity.

This is achieved by:

  • Awareness raising at a local level through events and publicity
  • One-to-one or group coaching sessions
  • Strengthening links with local business support providers  and
  • Supporting clients to access appropriate business support

To date after six months of project delivery 179 clients have engaged in intensive enterprise coaching sessions. Of these, 59 have been referred for support to develop their business idea further.

View current news about what is being achieved by the project locally.

The Enterprise Coaching Project is funded by the NWDA and is part of a wider Enterprise Generator Project in Cheshire and Warrington. BCT Regenesis manage the Cheshire and Warrington Enterprise Coaching Project.

Community Foods

E-mail Print
VegetablesOur team has developed and led a wide range of successful food access projects across the UK working at both grass roots and government level to develop and implement food, health education and agricultural initiatives linking urban and rural communities.
This includes the creation of 77 community based food co-operatives across Wales on behalf of the Welsh Assembly.

Community Prototypes Network

E-mail Print
HousesThis programme brings together neighbourhood communities across the UK in creating acknowledged models of excellence to formally demonstrate the value of ‘localism’ in delivering viable, long-term solutions in neighbourhood regeneration.
The programme objective is to establish a network of up to 10 distinctive communities who, in partnership with BCT Regenesis over the next 2 years, can deliver transformational change in neighbourhood regeneration. The network includes Wandsworth Community Empowerment Network, Broxtowe Partnership Trust (Nottingham), Sheffield Wildlife Trust, Stafford Muslim Community Centre, North Edinburgh Business Incubator, Burnley Enterprise Trust, Women’s Design Service (London), Black Country Housing Group, Newcastle and North Staffs Play Council and The Partnership Council (Nottingham). The prototypes created will in turn form the basis for systematic knowledge exchange within the network to test the validity and maximise the transferability of the prototype models.

Waste Recycling

CFRF logoWe are contracted by Cheshire County Council to manage the only county- wide bulky waste recycling initiative in the UK, being commissioned to deliver a 3 year ‘turnaround’ programme to coordinate the growth of reuse initiatives across the county.
The objectives are to minimise the tonnage of bulky waste going to landfill and in the process to maximise access to affordable furniture and household goods within disadvantaged areas.
This contract involves also the provision of ongoing advice and support to the 15 community-based social enterprises across the County engaged in this programme.

Blacon Neighbourhood Plan

E-mail Print
We were appointed in 2005 to manage a high-profile ‘sustainable infrastructure development programme’ process on behalf of the Blacon Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder.
As such, we are commissioned to run the ‘Building Your Blacon’ programme until April 2007.
This involves facilitation and development of a long-term, community driven campaign to generate £30m+ of new neighbourhood level investment in an area of some 16,000 population.
In the process we have developed a Community Engagement Checklist which has been recognised as a model of good practice by independent Pathfinder assessors via the Neighbourhood Renewal Unit. We also manage a number of community-based grants funds under contract to the Blacon Neighbourhood Management Pathfinder.

Independent School

E-mail Print
BYPP logoWe run an independent school called ‘Building Young People’s Potential’ (BYPP) providing full time education for 14-16 year olds permanently excluded from mainstream education.
This includes both academic and vocational learning.
The school is supported by DfES, Connexions and Learning & Skills Council.
Alongside the core school curriculum we run various dedicated learning programmes including an Intensive Surveillance and Support Programme (ISSP) young offenders programme for 14-18 year olds and an Education to Employment (E2E) Programme for 16-19 year olds.
This school is a not-for-profit enterprise and is recognised as a model of excellence by the Learning & Skills Council.

Business Incubation

E-mail Print
Firm Start logoWe have recently designed a prototype ‘Firm Start’ incubator on behalf of UK Business Incubation aimed at promoting and fostering start up enterprises in areas of disadvantage where the business birth rate is typically close to zero.
The prototype model in Chester builds upon our substantial experience in supporting and growing social enterprises. The ‘Firm Start’ incubator was formally opened by Phil Woolas, Minister for Local Government & Community Cohesion in June 2006. BCT Regenesis will manage the facility over the next 3 years delivering intensive early stage business development support leading to rapid move-on and growth for supported ventures.
The prototype is also supported financially by LloydsTSB Foundation. Subject to effective ‘proof of concept’, the intention is to roll out the ‘Firm Start’ programme across the UK.

Childcare Ventures

E-mail Print

BCT Regenesis (through its sister organisation, the Blacon Community Trust), has established and presently manages a range of childcare services including out of school care, daycare, crèche and playscheme services.
These are delivered under contract to Sure Start and local schools within the Every Child Matters framework. They are highly acclaimed as models of excellence regionally and nationally. These services are all social enterprise aimed at providing the highest quality, inclusive and accessible early years education and childcare, ensuring crucially that services are available to all families and children within any community, that is, not just the privileged few.
We see this as fundamental to effective personal development, to successful community regeneration and to long-term enhancement of local quality of life especially in the most deprived areas.
